FUBAR 12-W

Have a new in the box PA Fubar 12-W subwoofer. Am thinking of using it in my Camaro in the rear center well. If i construct a flat well cover and drop mount the sub into that, would that be ok or do I need to make a complete box for the sub. I looked at some of pics of subs on this forum but can't tell if the well is sealed up. Need you stereo gurus advice on what to do. Badman

Hmmmm... I remember a lot of guys doing this with these care when i was a teenager... A long time ago. My suggestion is build a box. You will like the way it sounds better. Less rattles, and no leaks which cause a loss of output. Plus you get to play with power tools!!! Or if no power tools available, buy a generic premade one. I like sealed the best. Easiest to build and the most forgiving if not perfectly sized to the woofer.

seal the box, and it will sound better, you only have 1 12 so it will be easy to make a box..

Now as for a sealed box or posted box .Well that comes down to yer own ears.Theres people that say ported sounds better than sealed.Sealed is easier when buildin yer own.Porting isn't that hard just takes time and patience.Alot of slideing and cutting the tube length.(tuneing)Sumwhere in here is a real good post/article on porting,as well as selection of subs ect.Well worth the time to read and considering.Personaly I switch between 2 box's.1 is a sealed sub well box like the 1 above.(wish i found that post b4 i started buildin mine.Woulda made life easier.)with 1 12" infinity and amp.The other is what i call the toy or junk box .It's ported , only has 2 old 12"petras and a unknown junk amp but still thumps reallllll nice.Thats my "work"box.(if it gets stolen i'm out less that 10 or 20 dollars.
It realy comes down to yer own taste/ear what ya go with.Enjoy....Bill
