lots of 6x9s
lots of 6x9s
im not ready till next winter but ive been thinking a lot about what kind of audio setup im goint to go with.
now im not a huge bass guy but love my music way to loud and i want to feel like my ears are going to burst on those crazy guitar solos
i was thinking about putting as many 6x9s intm the whole hatch area as i can by biulding a box to lay flat over the gas tank and the hatch well and putting about 10 to as many as will fit 6x9s facing upward kind of like people do with subs
is this possible?
is this pointless?
how else can it be done or made louder?
please give any suggestions. thanks

pointless. buy 2 good 12s for the rear hatch, a good set of 6x9 components and run kick panels with components for the fronts and a 4x amp for them as well.

A real good set of 6x9's, a dual range 12" sub and good amp.
My setup is 2x JBL 80W 4x6, 2x MTX 250W 6x9 ($250AUD), 1x MTX 400W 12" ($280AUD) and a 1200W 4ch AMP ($280AUD) and that is soooo loud and clear.
I never turn it up far enough to make it crackle coz i like my music clear but my ears still ring when i turn the radio off
EDIT: just thought id add if you get a good amp that has HI and LOW pass filters you can adjust the bass youre sub and 6x9's get.
4x6" 40W RMS - Deck.
6x9" 100W RMS - AMP ch 3/4.
12" 250W RMS - AMP ch 1/2.

I say pick you up a pair of Infinity Reference series 6x9's match em up with 100 watts rms each, and you'll have mids/highs for days. My current set up is Infinity Kappa Perfect 5.1 componets up front, Infinity Reference 2-way 6x9's, MA Audio 800watt 4 chan amp for the highs, and a single kicker L7S12 in a ported box with a profile california 1000w mono amp. It sounds just amazing, and when I turn it up you can hear it plain as day 6 blocks down the road.

Re: lots of 6x9s
I agree that's totally pointless and just begging for someone to break through your hatch to steal it all. I have some nice Pioneer 6x9s run off an amp, 4x6s run off the head unit, and a 10" sub on a seperate amp. It was really cheap and sounds fantastic at low volume and high. Pioneer is the best brand for car audio in my opinion.
Re: lots of 6x9s
No doubt that the 6X9 idea in the hatch is bad. They just dont have enough highs and lows. Besides the point, you can get a nice box for 2 12" woofers off ebay for like 40 bucks and some monster cable to save a few bucks. Through in some JBL kickers, new pioneer 6X9s in the back, 4X6s in the front (why hassle putting anything other than what will fit) and youll be ringin when you get out lol. As far as the amp goes, forget about infiniti reference, its all jap crap now. If you can get a 6 channel reference 500 from a few years ago, when they were American made, youll be set. That bitch will run all 6 speakers beautifully. I know i mentioned pioneer and thats jap **** too, but no one else makes speakers that hit those high notes as good.
