subs cutting out?

Ok here is what i have Pioneer head unit 40x4 watts, 2 6x9 pioneer speakers both 240 watts, 2 12in pioneer subs both 800 watts, 2 pioneeer amps 760 watts a piece and they are running off a second battary and each have a capacitor. the only way i can half *** turn it up is if i turn the bass boost down and the bass all the way down on my stereo. then when i turn it up to a certain level the subs just quit. Do i have to much watts running through it? or is it sumthing else?

Re: subs cutting out?

Are the amps - one amp per sub? How are they wired, what is the impedence of the subs and are they dual or single voice coil?

Re: subs cutting out?

1 sub per amp, wiring: wired the speacker wires, audio wires, and system control wires from the stereo to the amps then wired the amp to the subs and the power wires for the amps are ran through the 2 capacitor then to the battary.

Re: subs cutting out?

the subs are 4ohms? or you wired it at 4ohms?.. a 4ohm cant be wired to 4ohm,unless it has a single 4ohm vc..dvc4ohm can only be wired to 2 or 8 depending on the wiring

Re: subs cutting out?

1. Both amps cut out at the same time?
2. How are things grounded?
3. Have you taken a DMM out and mesued the resistance of the subs?
4. What modle amp and is the power light going out, or dimming with the bass?

Re: subs cutting out?

So how are the sub hooked up? Two subs, are they run in parallel off one amp bridged? Or one amp, one sub to a channel?
And the power light on the amp stays on? Depending on the model that may not mean much, some of them the light just stay on when the amp goes into protect.
Can you measure the resistance of the subs?

Re: subs cutting out?

pioneer subs have a saftery cutoff @ a certain power limit . thats the bad thing about them, unless u have the premier sub which holds the record!, they dont! try some other subs if it consists ok! if u need anything just holla, and he is right 4ohm dvcs can only run 2 or 8 ohms! 2ohm dvc and 8 ohm dvc can run @ 4ohms!
