While I've got my interior out, I figure now would be a good time to wire whatever speaker/power lines I will need in the future when it comes time to work on the audio system. I don't know a whole lot about audio, so what would you guys recommend that I run? I'd like to eventually have a very nice system, complete with amp and sub in the rear compartment.
Unless you want to put it in now your probably better off just taking the interior out when you do it.
If you really want to run the wires now though, figure out what amp(s) you want to use and how many subs/speakers you want to run. Also figure out where you want everything mounted. Then buy a wire kit with a big enough gauge wire for the amp you want.
Run the power wire from the battery (not connected to it yet) to the back where the amp would be. I guess run it down the passenger side the whole way (That's where the battery is on a Camaro, right?)
Then you need to run the ground wire from where your amp would be to a ground. Make sure you pick a good one, also that your ground wire is the same size as your power wire.
Then run some (again depending on how many subs and speakers you want) RCA cables from your head unit to where the amp would be. They say to twist them together if your running multiple RCA cables next to each other. I guess you could just run them down the middle or drivers side.
You also need to run a remote wire from the head unit to the amp to turn it on and off, it doesn't really matter where you put it...
Then you need to run speaker wire from where your amp would be to where your speakers/subs would be. It would get really confusing with all of those wires sitting there, but I suppose if you labeled every wire you could pull it off.
I would still say to wait until you put everything in. This way if you change your mind on an amp or anything it doesn't make a difference. Hope that helps.

It is much easier running wire with everything out of the car, I just did this myself.
You'll want to run your main power wire for the amps, depending on how much power you're going to use. You can either get 4 gauge wire, or just go for it and run 0 gauge(leaves you open to run much more if you decide too)
You'll want to run at least 2 sets of RCA's.
Then a remote wire that goes from the deck to the amps.
If you're going to run your main speakers off the amps, you'll want to run speaker wire from the amp location, to where each speaker is going to be. I would recommend having kickpods built. They will give you a much better SQ overall, then the 4x6's in the dash.
The ground for the amps, you want to leave as short as possible, so you could really just wait until your installing the amps, to run the ground wire.
I'm trying to think if I forgotten anything.

I went a bit overboard when I was installing some of my system this time around, but it will make future plans much easier. I decided to run speaker wire for mids and tweeters, 3 sets of rca's, and big enough power wire to run 3 decent sized amps. If you think you may doing some upgrades later, do it now if you've got the time/cash.
