New Delco in.... sheesh what a mess!

Well, I've been looking for a replacement stereo since I got the car and saw on the site that alot of people were using newer delco units for better sound+stock look. I decided to do this as well. I found a unit out of a 97-02 grand prix for $40 at the local junk yard and brought it home to install. I pulled out the old stereo (notice I say old, not stock) only to find a mess behind it. The harness had been butchered and had multiple butt connectors on the same wire. I nearly cried...... it took me about 3 hours to clean up (and mind you I am not a novice at wiring). All set to install right? Nope.... had to go all over town looking for an antenna adapter. Finally found one at Tweeter. Long story short, 8 1/2 hours and $80 later, the unit is in and sounds much much better than the old one. I would highly reccomend this upgrade to anyone looking for a reasonable sounding stereo at a reasonable price. Next project is speakers... anyone running one of these newer units have any suggestions? My budget is 200-300 for all four. I don't want to make too many mods just drop them in and let them play.

Pioneer has worked for me. They drop right in and can handle some power. They are cheap also which doesnt hurt. I have been a fan of Pioneer for 30 years. I think the qaulity may have dropped in the last 5 years. I have been noticing Walmart carries them and the are one of the cheapest.

Pioneer worked for me too. I have a set of 3-ways front and rear in my 89. IIRC, I paid less than $200 for all four.
