Hi
I hope someone can help me i have an 89 gta with steering wheel controls.
My stock radio stop working it would not hold a fm station it keeps cutting out.
So i bought what i though was the sam radio from an 89 gta but the plugs are different that go to the steering wheel.Mine has two wires with a white plug and the radio i just bought has a hole for a bigger plugs.Is there an adapter or can i wire it direct with out the plug?

I'm not familiar with GTA steering wheel controls but have been doing audio as a hobby for almost 20 years. Can you post a few pictures of your problem and we can see what's going on?

Not sure of any adapter though, did the seller tell you it was from a GTA?

 

Here is some pic of the different female plugs the white one is my old one.
This plug is what allows me to unlock the radio.i tryed to exchange the heads between the two radios but the new on did not work on my old unit.
but the new unit did work or show the radios locked when i tryed both heads on it.
on the in side where these plugs go to the board the new one has four wires two go to the same spot. the board is different so im not sure i can evern hard wire it.

 

It appears you have a unit from another GM 88-93 model by the looks of it. They have similar radio controls that can be found in grand prix's , bonnevilles etc. You should be able to hardwire it in if you can find the pinouts from the other GM car.
