Amp/sub question

Hey, i have decided im gonna buy a kicker 8" L7 solobaric sub.

Now i need an amp to run this beast, im not really up on what amps are good what are not. and also how much power i need. on kickers website it says the sub is 450RMS, and you can get it in 2 or 4 ohm versions.

its also a Dual voice coil sub.

What amp would you guys recomend. i understand i shoudl get the 4 ohm one, series the voice coils and get a 2ohm load.

but is that 450RMS at 2ohm or 4ohm? or both? kicker doesnt specify.

what amps do you recommend? brand, models, anything, i want to keep it reasonably priced ~$150

-thanks.

Re: Amp/sub question

The Kicker 06S8L7-4 run 50 - 450W in 4 ohm. $150.00 CDN doesn't buy much. I take it you want a 2 channel amp

Have a look at http://www.woofersetc.com

For $150.00 try

Pioneer
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6108

Pheonix Gold
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5719

Soundstream
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3175

For the money go with a Pioneer. Good performance for a good price.

Good Luck

Re: Amp/sub question

spend the extra cash and get the kicker 650.1 (if they still make it) search ebay, or whatev....

i'd buy a dual 2ohm sub if you can find it.

Re: Amp/sub question

save a little more cash and do yourself a favor cause in the long run youre gonna wish you had bought the 650.1 ... my opinion... if you have to wait a week, do it.

Re: Amp/sub question

i have a 1500 boss class D amp and it pushes my two memphis 10s really good, just its kinda hard to set to the right setting to sound perfect but once you get it then it will be awesome. i also bought a box off of ebay to fit in my hatch and it works great too.
