help with reducing rattling

i'm currently building a sub box for the trunk well, and would like to start investing in putting down some dynamat (probably going with peel n seel due to the weather in my area not usually hitting upper 80's)

my question might sound redundant, but where would I apply this stuff? i'm not looking into removing seats and stuff(meaning i only want to work in the hatch area), i was just thinking maybe around the box? should I just apply to every surface of metal there is back there? pictures would help. i almost feel retarded asking this

some more info: i'm building a box inside of a 86 trans am. i'll be putting in 2 12'' subwhoofers. i was reluctant to even start messing with subs since I dreaded the rattling it would make in my car and knew i'd have to do some type of work underneath the carpets somewhere

Look at post 39 on the below thread to see where I put the Dynamat Xtreme on my car last month during an interoir build.

I also used some spray on bed liner on the panels where the spare tire goes and on the other side behind the rear glovebox and in where the rear 6x9's go. Dynamat doesn't work too well on not flat places so this is where I used the spray. The spray does help a bit and is cheap compared to spray on sound deadener.

Take your time and use a roller (I used a plastic one meant for wall paper). The more you use the roller the more it will adhere. Since I won't be using rear speakers, I dynamated the opening. If you are going to have rear speakers, put Dynamat behind the speaker on the metal in the opening. This will really help your music.

Also I would recommend the Xtreme over regular dynamat. It is lighter and works better. You can get D Xtreme from woofersetc.com or sonicelectronix.com. I bought a 36 sq ft. pack and used it all up, and it weighed only 21 lbs.

Re: help with reducing rattling

thanks a lot for the information. now i have a better idea of what im getting into. since the car has been in the shop for a mechanical issue i guess now would be the time to start taking apart the interior to apply this stuff.

where did you purchase the spray on bedliner? around how much was that?

I got mine from "Canadian Tire" I'm guessing pep boys or autozone or some place similiar would have some (maybe even a 4x4 shop). It cost me $10 for a can.
