As long as the ported box is properly made then ported all the way.

Depends what sound you're going for. I'm hoping to put a sub in my bronco soon. Keepin it nice and simple with a single 10" sealed downfiring in the center console.

Re: ported unported?

well if your listening to rap mainly. you should get a ported box. but have it built and tuned. i like low bass so im going to get a box built at around like 5 cubes tuned to 32 hertz.

The box needs to fit the specs on the sub regardless if it's ported or sealed. Some properly made sealed boxes can hit just as hard as ported so there is no clear cut choice when it comes to a box.

If you can get a sub to match the box I personally would go with the sealed. I doubt you would hear and audible difference between sealed and ported (all things being equal).

Re: ported unported?

I got a custom made sealed box in my Z28 and it slams.... I listen to rap. I don't think I could tell the difference to be honest. Maybe go to a car audio place and see if they have some kind of set up with both sealed and ported so you could hear the difference. But like I said, I have a sealed box and it hits hard.

Re: ported unported?

if you want sound quality and want the subs to respond to every bass tone...sealed
if you want really deep and loud bass tones to knock then get ported as this will increase your SPL (sound pressure level)
