Would it be overkill? Or is it!?

So, I always said to myself that the stock audio system is good enough for me, but as always it has its flaws and mainly at higher volumes. My current setup is Alpines all around meaning both 6x9's and both dash and a Stock tape deck from a 95 S10. Reason for tape? Well I listen to radio mostly and I had a Cassette to 3.5 adapter for those times I want some Ipod action.

So thats my current setup and I am happy with it but my uncle being unemployed and worried that someone is going to break into his truck, he removed his sound system and downgraded to the ''stock'' setup but with better door speakers and a small amp. The setup he stored/removed was 2 12' Subs and a 1000W amp. He said he will sell me the 1k amp for $50 and well that got me thinking, why not pick up the good deal and wire it up? Its a 2 channel if I recall. He also says he will sell me his 5' DVD headunit or well trade plus some cash for my old headunit I have store in the garage but I am not a fan of how aftermarket headunits look in our cars let alone a DVD headunit. Is it possible to wire up the amp with the stock tape deck I have now? Yea I know

What do you guys think? It should help with some more bump and support any shenanigans I might do later on. Although the only thing I am thinking of at the moment is getting some better 6x9's.

Some amps have line level inputs meaning that you can simply jump off of your rear speakers and feed your amp. If it doesn't have live level inputs, you can get a line level converter that will take your stock speaker outputs and convert it to RCA for your amp. It's not ideal because you have no independent control over the amp, but it works.
