Stock Delco Install. No Sound From Left Rear Speaker.

I removed a junk aftermarket head unit and installed a used Delco radio and got a factory harness to install it. All 4 speakers worked when I pulled the old radio, now with the Delco, the left rear speaker is dead. Everything else works just fine. Even swapped the 2 left rear wires on the harness and it still doesnt work.

Do I have a bad Delco unit? If I do, that sucks because I had a AUX jack modded to it.

Thanks.

Which radio are we talking about? Delco made lots of them. Can you post a pic and or model number? More than likely some bad solder joints. Can't point you in the right direction without knowing which model you have.

Ok, now I may be able to help you. I have one just like that out of and 86 Fiero. It's problem is that it station wanders, probably needs cleaned. I just have not had the time to get to it. Model # 16050352

Where you want to look is on the left side behind the ***** under the top. The 8 wire cable from the amp section down to the bottom board. The solder joints usually crack after time on the bottom board which means it all has to come apart. The cable solders in directly to the amp section but there is a connector on the bottom board that it plugs into. It may not be seated. Or the solder joints have cracked.

Since you are going to have the radio out of the car anyway, you may want to set up a bench test, consisting of a 12 volt power supply (not a battery charger) re-use your connectors and some cheap car speakers. Second, since we live with insects they love warm places and die there (being organic, they are also conductors)Clean anything suspecious with a stiff toothe brush.

yep,if all wiring intact and speakers good, probably a bad
solder joint(s)-almost a routine repair with 3rd gen era
delco stereos...Even though the radio worked normally
when removed, disconnecting the plugs can disturb
broken solder joints and make/break connection.
I had about 10 iffy solder joints i had to fix in the '84
delco in my car-has worked perfect since the repair
