Radio issues in a GTA

Alright, I went out on a nice long ride in the GTA, drove brilliantly, nice day and all, cept for one thing, lack of tunes.

The buttons on the steering wheel work, the radio turns on and just about everything seems to work, I even threw in a tape adapter and hooked up an Ipod (mom's since mine gave up the ghost) the stereo worked beautifully with sound and all. But when trying to get some rock tunes from the local stations it doesn't work. Do I have a bad antenna? Something not hooked up? I know sometimes and very rarely at that, the radio does kick on and work briefly, then goes back to no sound no nothing as if there was no such thing as radio waves. I don't want to take too much apart trying to fix this. But it would be nice to fix.

Typical bad solder joints giving out after warm up. I repair those radios as a hobbby (If you can call about 20 of them a hobby) I can also install a switch and aux input jack in them for remote mounting. I mounted mine above and left of the heater control, can't even see it.

Alright. If its bad solder joints then that may explain why the Ipod and tape adapter work just fine. Also explains why on occasion it will work with the radio. I know with my 84 its a bad power switch. Due to the nature of the build of the 84 I may just have the original radio repaired and restored. The GTA however I will throw up for sale once I hit a 1000 miles on the bottom end. If I feel like playing with the radio I'll pull it and check it out.
