Headunit restarts when volume is raised.

I'm not to sure how I'm supposed to go about diagnosing this issue but I've had a ken wood unit in my car for over a year now with no problems but recently this: whenever the volume is raised to a considerable doin level the radio resets itself and will continue to do so untill I turn it down slightly. It will progressively get worse untill it stops working completely. Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad ground or you have a shorted speaker.

it sounds kind of like the voltage is low. i had a car with a dead battery once and i figured i would listen to the stereo and it did the exact thing. bad wiring maybe? just a thought

Re: Headunit restarts when volume is raised.

To clOse out the thread: it's was the harness that connected into the radio. Figured it out by chance when I accidentally put pressure on the base of the harness and it turned on, took pressure off and it turned off. Got a new harness and bam, it works!
