Dual 12s + Dual Phase?
Just a question to anyone who is running two 12s (Or any size set of subs for that matter).
Has anyone wired them so one is normal and the other is phased 180 out IE one sub positive to positive and the other negative to positive (Polarities reversed) and if so how did it sound?

yea doesnt sound good. a speakers makes air waves one cone will move forward and one will move backward in the same instant and cancel each other out. unless you want to mount one speaker backwards, for looks.. you can also do what is called a push-pull.. mount 2 speakers facing each other one in phase and one out they move together and basically become one larger speaker []< >[]

I think you're talking about isobaric loading. The only benefit to building a subwoofer setup like this is if you're trying to put two 18s in a Volkswagen Beetle. Isobaric loading saves space and produces lower frequencies at the cost of overall power and 2-3dB loss. You also run the risk of burning one set of the voicecoils up as one sub is exposed to air while the other is contained in the box which (if the box is built right) has no access to fresh air and will run hotter.

Yea I forgot the term. I agree with you except on burning up one set of voice coils, any speaker in a sealed box has no access to fresh air. If its ported that would help. The speaker could burn out from under/over power and it would be harder to notice right away.

OK next question. Got both 12s dropped in and WOW they are hitting hard and clean as a ****. With the stock location dash/sail setup of a thirdgen and two 12s in the trunk facing directly up towards the hatch would it be better to leave them both zeroed or should I 180 them (Both will be at the same setting)?
