Soebody who knows, please respond!!

hey ok heres the problem. I got a cd changer installed awhile ago and its hooked up to the stock radio in my 84 camaro, and mounted in the back. Now i need to install an amp to my subs. I need to know how i can install the amp to the radio? theres no REM jack in the back of it or anything. The radio is weird too, it stands up out of the console and has a built in equilizer and everything. Its the weirdest lookin thing ive ever seen so i wanted to keep it in there rather than getting a new Head Unit. So can anyone help? i just need to know how to run the wires for my amp.. thanks!

You will need to go to local stereo shops, i know there is an adapter that will allow you to install an amplifier to the factory deck, ive seen it done in a pontiac sunfire. I dont, however, think it will be a great quality setup. With some decks, you can get a separate pre out for the subwoofers, and get more control for them in that sense... Also, i wonder, if you run the other speakers off a factory deck, i wonder if the subs are goin to drown them out. Ive run in to this problem with aftermarket deck power, which is surely greater than the power coming out of the factory deck.

Surely this idea of yours WILL work, but i truly think youd be better off biting the bullet and replacing the head unit, but thats just MHO.

you dont need any adapter, just run a wire from any switched 12v+ wire off your ignition to the remote input on the amp, it will come on whenever your ignition is on

You WILL need an adapter unless the amp has high level inputs. You'll need a line-level converter to convert the speaker outputs to line level so that the amp can accept it. The radio you described sounds like the swivelling Berlinetta radio. It's basically just as worthless as the standard Delco radios, and how it managed to survive 16 years is totally beyond me.

ok amps installed! let me tell the story!
originally i ran the remote wire and tapped it into the remote wire from my cd changer, then i started experiencing trouble. next thing i knew my cd changer would not turn on and neither would the amp, i couldnt even eject the changers CD magazine. ANYWAY.. after much troubleshooting, and reading.. i finally came up with a plan. To take some of the extra remote wire.. strip the end.. and shove it into the empty fuse location for "IGN"..I automatically assumed it stood for Ignition. then tapped that remote wire to the head units remote. the amp turns on and off with the ignition just like scoob8000 said it would. installing amps isnt hard at all.. thanks to all the people at thirdgen!
