i have 2 15's in my 89 rs now, and just bought a 91 rs convt. i've heard it's hard to get a good system in a convertible due to the lack of space in trunk, as trunk lid ratteling. can you fit 2 12's in the trunk? is there a prefab box they make for the trunk?

I have been wondering the same thing, and upon repeated questing this boarrd over the year, come to the conclusion that first of all (i will not give up my spare tire) and that a 10 or 12" base tube would be my best bet. I figure if i buy a good pre-fab tube, i can throw in my own sub, cause i already have a god amp. again, this is what i have come up with, but until i get a little money saved i will not be able to tell you how it sounds. Nice car though, got any pics?

This guy knows how to put a very good system into a convertible. I suggest emailing him to see what he did. He had pictures of his car on the featured rides back in the day and I think he has a website too

I have 2x15" Lanzars in the back of my IROC ragtop with good result. It is pretty obvious though that you will not get the SAME result in a ragtop as a coupe, but Im very satisfied with my setup. It is definitely one of the louder ragtops in this area...
The system sounds good with the top up, but with the top down you naturally lose quite a bit of the beat as you both block off much of the room between the back seat and the speakers, plus you don're not sitting in a "closed room" no more...However, it is still wayyyy better than the original setup, and I still feel the bass pounding my back!
Anyway, the biggest drawback with this solution is that you have no space left in the trunk. To me that isnt a big problem though since we have a beater to haul crap in..
.. Also, you'll have to get a spare-on-a-box instead of your reg. spare as you cant get it out with this type of box...
Here are a couple of pics of my setup - feel free to email me or visit my website if you have any questions since Im not in here on a regular basis.
BTW, the subbox can be bought online for less than $100...!
