Pioneer 1.5 din HU and wiring harness problems...Please help!
I just recieved my new pioneer HU today, it is the DEH-P77DH. I also ordered a wiring harness (pioneer brand RD-GM78). I got these both from autotoys.com and it said this was the right harness for my 86' T/A. The harness I recieved even said it fit 77-89 firebirds/camaros on the box. When I went to install it the plugs are not compatable. My stock plugs are a set of three plugs (black, blue and clear) that plug vertically into my tape deck. There is also a plug that connects for power (black). The wiring harness consists of two wide plugs with pins (black with 7 pins and grey with 5 pins). The stock plugs do not even use pins at all. Please help! Is there a harness that will connect to the system I have described? Has anyone else installed a 1.5 din pioneer hu? Did you have the same problem? Thanks!

Yes, there is a harness for you. fits all Camaros/Firbirds for those years. Just go to any place that sells Car Audio. Take a look around, look at the harness and you will find what ones will fit. Pay no attention to what the box says. I found that out myself. The box said that it would not fit my car but infact it did! Though i chose not to use a harness. I just wired my head unit without the harness. Hope this helps

Does the harness look like the one they have pictured on autotoys.com? I took a look and it looks like it should fit. The black part should have 12 male connectors that plug into your harness which should have female connectors.

Black86TA,
I used the Metra brand that Circuit City sells when I installed the Pioneer77DH in my 1991 Camaro. The part# is 70-1858. GM 1988 and up (21 pin). I think it was $14. Try Circuit city and asked for pre 1988.
HTP!

The pic at autotoys is not the same one that I recieved. I'm gonna go out to to a car audio shop tonight and get the one I need. I hope I can return my old one. That would be a waste of $20. Thanks!

Someone prolly switch what was supposed to be in the package. Places are always pulling that ****. Most places will carry the generic one which one end plugs into the cars harness and the other end splices into the decks harness.
