Has anyone done this?

Has anyone on here managed to squeeze a usual single DIN headunit and a 1/2 DIN equalizer in the factory mounting spot? If so, how did you do it and do you have any pics? Is it even possible? I have a 4th gen dash so space really isn't much of a concern, but I would imagine heat buildup between the HU and EQ is. I'd like to have an equalizer because I've found myself to be sensitive to the higher frequencies that tend to make most music and even plain voices sound rather tinny in most systems I've heard.

I've seen the single din half din EQ done before.

I may even still have a install kit hidden in my parts building somewhere.

As for pics,no.But have seen them on the net years ago.

I done it till last year when I upgraded. Installed a Alpine Single DIN with 1/2 DIN Alpine EQ a day after I bought the car new in 88. I don't even think you can get the kit to do it anymore. IT looked sweet and there was no heat issues.

Re: Has anyone done this?

Well, I guess now I will have to try it. I'm looking into getting an Eclipse 21010 1/2 DIN equalizer that will almost match my CD-5435. Although it would probably better match my CD-3402 for styling, the 3402 doesn't have the additional sub output or MP3/iPod capability. Of course, all of this will have to wait until I get the money together for the speaker pods for the doors (no dash speakers) and the rear box put together along with if I can ever find a dash shell to replace the one I have now that's cracked and broken in places and doesn't have the passenger's side air bag door...

But I do appreciate the info

If space isn't an issue, mount a fan behind it?
