You definitely want to go with DVC.These pound alot harder. Heres a link that gives you a legnthier discription instead of me typing it out in words. http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/dvc/

Hope this helps. ~~Jaime~~

Duals can take more power, hence, they are louder and cost more.

Here's a real answer. It depends on your application. DVC doesn't pound harder just because it's DVC. You want to choose your subs based on the impedance that will give you best performance. DVC subs tend to give you more flexibility, which is good if you're going to add another sub later or change amps, etc. The lower the impedance is, the more power the amp makes. Paralleling the 2 coils on a DVC sub makes for a lower impedance, but in many cases it could be to low for the amp. You want a total subwoofer impedance that matches the lowest impedance that the subwoofer amp is rated to safely handle. If it's rated for 4 ohms bridged, then that's the impedance you want from your subs. That means parallel 2 SVC 8 ohm subs, or Series/Parallel a pair of DVC subs. If you're running just one sub with an amp that is stable into 2 ohms bridged, then the DVC sub will give you an advantage.

That's not true. A bigger magnet doesn't mean jack crap. A magnet properly designed for the specific driver is what's important.

I agree with jim85iroc. The dvc design doesn't mean more bass or a more powerful speaker. Radio Shack makes dvc's that are weak. The thing that matters most is that the impedence (ohms) match your amp.
