The dx's are the better line, and worth the extra $$ IMO.
I had a pair of 4x6 ex's back over the summer for about 2-3 weeks (never meant to keep them, but didn't want Circuit City to give me another pair of Infinity's on their ESP plan) and they were ok...the Boston Acoustics plates and Polk dx's are better.
Polk makes a good speaker, but I bought my Boston's because I liked them better than the Polks. Regardless, they are a quality speaker. Go listen to them and see what ya like!

I've got the ex tweeters and they sound great. I have them on the dash face. Like below the vents. I wired them into the tweeters on my Infinity plates, and they give the perfect imaging for me and my pasanger. I think that if I like the ex series, I would love the dx. Go for the dx.
