My son just put a double din in his 85 trans am, and used the stock face plate.We used a dremel to cut the hole for the radio and filled the sides with a pc of hard plastic.We read how they cut the back out of the holder and decided to just cut the hump part out ,so the back still is rigid. For the kids first try, it didn't turn out to bad.We just could not justify paying 99 dollars for a face plate, and waiting so long to get it.

 

Job well done for the first time.
