Really Easy front speaker question

I couldn't find this in a search. What are the dimensions of the front dash speakers for my 3rd gen. I blew out the old factory ones. I can't believe they lasted 15 years! Any suggestions on brand or model? I have a 45w x 4 Pioneer head unit. Thanks.

4x6's is what fits that opening. Infinity's are popular along with the Kickers, Kenwood, Alpine, and many others. But go with kicks instead. I had new Infinity's for about 4months and Kenwoods before that and there's just no midbass and in a 4x6 and they just can't handle the power. So I went with a set of Components and Kicks and I'm very happy now. Altho I have been thinking about upgrading my Infinity's to something else to get alittle more midbass. Infinity's just don't play that low for me but they have really good sound quality. As we speak Mike(DJSexay) is doing a GP on his Kicks. Check those out.

Thanks for the info man. Someone told me that I needed special "shallow" speakers because the speaker opening wasnd all too large and regular speakers would "stick up too high". Any truth to this? Also what model speaker do you suggest? Where do you buy them? I bought a sub tube from sounddomain.com and the where cheap and easy. What do you all think? Thanks again.

If you go with 4x6s I would try to spend at least around $100 bucks for them, because most 4x6s don't sound good. I would highly recomend though some kick panels and put either 5 1/4 or 6 1/2's . and then for those I like the kenwoods or infinitys for around $60-90. I have all kenwoods and I'm really pleased with them. I would also use a bass blocker on anthing you put up front like 200hz ones. that made a huge differnce on mine.

The Trans Am's have a major problem on the drivers side with the depth issue due to the vent(which can usually be overcome by heating the duct and pushing it in with a piece of wood or something. On the Camaros there really isn't much of a problem. As far as the height issue. Most 4x6's will fit just fine. You have 2 options with the 4x6's and that's a Coaxial or Plate version.

A Coaxial has the tweeter mounted in the center of the cone area. Typically the tweeter will usually stick up above the height of the rest of the speaker. Which can sometimes cause the Dashpad to not lay flat.

Plates are flat and the have a 4'speaker mounted on one side and a tweeter on the other.

To get straight to the point and get you going with a set of Speakers take a look at the Infinity Kappa 463.1 plates.
They sound really good(alot better than the Reference Series, that's what I had) and from what others have said on the board they have been able to install those into Camaros with no problems. The power range on the those Kappas are 60wattsRMS/180wattsPeak so you can power them with your HeadUnit and/or and Amp later. I found the Kappas on ebay for as cheap as $78.00. But becareful shopping Ebay because most of them are not Authorized Dealers while SoundDomain I believe is. I hope this helps. John

Thanks for all your help. I am ordering the Infinity Kappa 463.1 plates right now. Now all I have to do is reweatherstrip the T-Tops and replace the 6x9's back there. They are still the OEM delco 15 year old ones! Thanks again. BTW, Sounddomain.com is a registered Infinity and Kenwood dealer. They have the Infinity Kappa 462.3cfp with external Crossover for $109! They look pretty cool as well. Thanks again.

I have an 85 IROC and I just purchased the Infinity Plate 4 x 6 for the dash. I was concerned about fit, however it sounds like they will fit with no problem.
