Is it possible to get bass from 6x9's in the standard placement location?
Hi Everyone,
So I redid the stock speakers the other day and also installed a newer head unit.
Front Speakers: Infinity REF6432CFX
Rear Speakers: Infinity REF9633IX
Head Unit: JVC KD-R990BTS
Speakers sound clear but there's no bass, I mean no bass. If I turn the EQ bass settings up or turn on bass boost it's more of a POP than anything resembling bass.
Any thoughts on this? Based on the enclosure of the stock 6x9 location is it a losing battle to try and get bass out of 6x9's?
I'm trying not to run an external amp or install a sub, but perhaps that's my only option if I'm not satisfied with the current sound.

Not saying you did, but IF you wired the speaker polarity wrong on 1 channel, L or R, then the bass from 1 side would cancel out the other side - net ZERO bass.
What happens when you use the balance and fader controls?

Just tired that, tried rear only one side at a time, no change. I'm wondering if I'm missing a setting somewhere on the head unit. I'll keep playing around with it.

Ditch the rear Speakers and get something that will produce some bass.
The stock 6x9 was a 6x9 woofer,........ not a 2-way,..... not a 3-way. The stereo in a third gen is "configured" to throw highs right in your face and only get lows from next to/behind the passengers. ( IMO ! ---> ) By using a 3-way speaker back there your adding way too much mid and high range from the rear.

You can fit 8” subwoofers in the 6x9 location with minimal modification

Are the foam enclosers still in the panel? Those make a difference if they're missing.
