attention.........POLECAT??????
From reading some of your post/replys....I'm assuming you work for KICKER.Well...I have a question for you......is it possible to buy the ss12 Kicker box(steelwater design)?Like the ones from say...93' or somewhere in that time frame? They were 3 way boxs(2 sub,2 mids and 2 tweets) that would beat the living hell out of your back(and ears
).They also had that cool-a s s cover.
Thanks man.

Yes and no. You can order the new SS1200, which is the newer version. It is now a 2 way, with 2 12" woofers and 2 2x6 horns. And they are ported out in the rear now vs. the front. If you have the speakers already, you should be able to go to your nearest Kicker dealer and order just the raw enclosure.
Hope this answers your question.

The one I bought in 93(I think) had 4 ports in the back.It came with 4 "plugs" to place in the ports. When I bought my Punch 200 I could blow those damn plugs clean out of the box
Can you tell me what the power rating was for those subs that came in the box?I replaced them with a set of comp 12's after about 2 years and the weight difference was incredible. The magnets on the subs out of the box were so much smaller then the mags on the comps. But damn could those thing thump!
I still have those 12" comps in my RS now.6 years later they still knock your hat off.
I also noticed Crutchfield no longer carry Kicker items...is there a reason for this?I'm just curious,I don't know how much longer my 12's will last and I want to replace them with kicker subs when they go. Nobody around here carry them anymore.
Thanks for your patiants polecat.

No problem Kevin,
The SS1200 or SS120,depending on what model you have is rated up to 250 watts. The woofers inside were designed for that enclosure, so it probably changed the sound some by moving to the Comp woofers. But they will handle alot more power.
We pulled out of Crutchfield over a year ago. It was just a business decision. But you never know what the future holds.
