Jim85IROC,I have a quick question for ya......

Would it be possible to fit 2 15" subs in this box?

BTW,I hope you don't mind me posting this pic from your site.

I have a 12" box I made that is almost exactly like that but it sits flush with the floor.I had planned on building another box and make it flush with the top of the hatch area.Just like yours here. With the added hight and deepness I figured 2 15" could fit.Do you think I would have a problem with the subs basket hitting the angled part of the box?
Thanks Jim

If memory serves me, the depth of that box is 15" or 15.5", but I'm not sure if there's enough room width wise because of the space needed for the hatch pull-down mechanism. I think the box would need to extend farther forward or tilt in order to give enough surface area for the 15" subs. Also keep in mind that 1.5 cubic feet is not enough airspace for most 15" subs, although there are exceptions.

what im thinking is that there may be not enough airspace in the car to make the 15's(any decent ones anyway) sound that good. wouldnt they be starving for airspace???

just a thought

There's plenty of room in the car. There just isn't plenty of room in that box. As long as the box is the proper size, the 15s will sound decent. Because of the small cabin space, it's quite possible that getting a smooth bass response will be more difficult, but still not impossible.

I had thought about tilting it some.
Or maybe taking the open area(the space at floor level to the top of the box)out to the back of the seat. That would provide a good place to mount my amp.

Thanks Jim.
I will do some research on the box before I build.
(edit mode on)
I just had an idea of how to do it.I will draw it out on paper and try to post the pic here sometime soon.If it works out like I plan it will look pretty cool.I just hope it sounds better then just cool (end of edit mode)

if you look at my post, Anyone Got Pics?, and look at my box, it's holes was for 12's, so me and my brother, just flipped the 15' over and marked it with chalk, cut, and wala, 15's...

Now i know its not the exact air space blah blah blah, but its not like your gonna be dropping Solo's in and if its close it will still sound good...I only did it because I'm makin the wall soon and didnt care, plus my box was only $10...

well, i say its cool to do that if you have cheap subs and say a $10 box, but incorrect box size can damage the subs too, so dont go throwin your "15 L7s or Titanium Eclipses in a wrong sized box or you could loose alot of money. but both of those subs dont need very much air space anyway, and warranties, ok ill quit babbling now.
