Hi,
I have a 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula that came with a Factory AM/FM Radio with in dash CD & EQ. The radio no longer works & after taking it out I find 2 plugs. One is the normal rectangle type plug for the speakers / power & such and there is another along the bottom in which a black plug with about 6 wires plugs in. What is that smaller plug for? Also how would I know if I had a factory Subwoofer in my car? Its not a GTA but it could have been an option. If so where is it located in my car?

Thanks

I don't know about the extra plug, but if you had the factory sub:

- you'd have a subwoofer switch w/ slider next to your defrost

- instead of 6x9s in the rear you'd have two pods w/ a 4x6 and 4" "SUB" each. IE: if you have 6x9s, you DONT have a factory sub

Your extra plug, does it have two wires, one orange and the other black w/ blue stripe, if so, that would be your steering wheel control for the stereo. It is part of the wiring harness even though you may not have the steering wheel controls.
