i won an auction on ebay for a dual sub box for a thirdgen and i got it the other day, its rather nice it was 100 bucks and came with two subs, the jbl loud and clears. i hooked them up and they hit ok in my room, havent put them in the car yet. i know they arent the best, but im wondering how decent are they? they are the 1999 model i think

haha i know its not recommended but ive done it alot, its my pioneer reciever and its running everything at 8 ohms if i remember right, and the subs are 4 ohms a peice. it hit all right, i just wanted to see if they werent duds you know, cant trust everything on ebay. but what are the deal with these, are they something that wont blow up when its turned up, do they hit the low notes very well? i had an mtx 6000 10" and it pounded in my car, so now im hoping these two twelves will be much better. im going to be running a jensen 500 by 2 amp. that amp is good enough for me, its got all the little ***** on it and whatnot, ive got a rockford 400a4 for my four other speakers and i need an eq to balance out the music.
As long as they're at 8ohms it should then you're right, it should be fine. I was just curious.
As for the subs themselves, I've never heard them (or heard about them) outside an audio shop. Sorry.

I had those exact subs.....they hit good..but its all in your box design for our hatchbacks. One sub just quit workin on me, im not sure what happened to it i think somthin fu#ked in the voice coil.. 100$ is kinda pricey for them though, unless its a nice @ss box.
