Good alarm?
Good alarm?
I'm getting an alarm on my car in the next couple of weeks. what is a good brand? I'm looking to spend at max $150 or so, and I want remote lock/unlock,starter kill, all the good stuff. any help would be great. also I found a valiant one for $70 + some change for the relays and crap. are those good?

I might be wrong, but you are gonna be hard pressed to get an alarm system for under $150 unless you install it yourself.
Most alarms include the starter kill, but you will most likely pay extra for the relays.
My Alpine unit has been going strong for years, and the siren sounds loud, not like a music box. I know alot of people who use a Viper system with no complaints.
Whatever you do, don't get an alarm that uses the horn for the siren (not even sure if they still make them). Simply put, these alarms suck.

I think I spent about 270 or so without installation, you could get the basic one like i got for around 150 but wouldnt get all the extras, I've got a DEI Avital, has a built in 2 stage impact sensor and I got 3 extra dual stage impact sensors as well as a proximity sensor, go shop around at local car audio/alarm stores.

I'd get a viper. I currently have one of those and they are awesome. It costs around 200 depending on what additional specs you want on it. If you let them install it it can get to 250. It's currently probably the best alarm system you can get.
With the 200 bucks i was able to get keyless entry, starter kill, the startup thing (even though i really don't use it), as well as all the other sensors that come with it. In additional i was able to get 5 extra sensors put into the car. I placed one in the trunk so that if the trunk is ever opened, it would trigger the alarm. YOu are able to control how sensitive you want it to be, etc. It was well worth the 200 bucks i spent.

Maybe you should save some money and move to a better neighborhood

Lincoln,
It doesn't matter where you live. If people hear that you have a system in your car, they will begin to think how to get it out. You could be at work and someone wants to decide to take your system, then your screwed. Point is there are bad people every where no matter where you move and a 200 dollar alarm system can at least prevent it from happening. It's WELL worth the investment.

Does this mean i needed an alarm for my Camaro? Prolly not...but its people coming from OTHER towns that would scare me, and besides, im not going to say i have the best looking thirdgen on earth, but its looks pretty sharp, and the dark green and dark tinted windows with blackouts, would prolly make my car a prime target for people to try and just mess with it, and in all acuallity, the alarm really wasnt what i was going for, i wanted keyless entry, remote start, blah blah blah the list goes on and on with features...
