please help!!!!

ok here's my problem, i just bought a new headunit(alpine 7874), and i have the stock bose system. now i was told that i would have to run seperate wires to each speaker then splice directly into the headunit because of the individual amps. what would happen if i didn't run new wires to my speakers, and just hooked it up as it is? will i mess anything else up? if it will, what do u guys recommend doing?

eventually i would like to replace my stock speakers with either kicks or 4x6's and 6x9's, but in the mean time im a little strapped for cash.

thanks in advance

Ok I have an 88 IROC too with the Bose system and I put in an Alpine HU. You need to go to your local stereo store and get a converter (about $50). You can also order from Crutchfield for a little more. Dont try to wire it any different by running wires to the speakers. Use an install kit (about $15) and a wire harness ($15). I tried several different ways and blew one of my rear amps. Got a new one at a junkyard for cheap. This is the only way to do it right until you tear it all out and replace with all aftermarket like I will be doing this winter. If you have any questions about the wiring, email me at ttl52@hotmail.com. I still have the wiring diagrams for the car and for the converter. Peace :lala:
