Factory CD
Factory CD
I was on copartfinder.com And I was looking for totaled 91 camaros and I came accross one with the factory CD Player. I emailed the place and confirmed this and said it was 125+shipping. How good were these things I think it would look good to have a deck made for my own car. Also could you hook up an amp? Could you use RCAs with it?

I just won a unused new factory cd player from a 92 camaro. I should be receiving it any day now. I am hoping to get it today or tomorrow so I can hook it up this weekend!!!
I assume you can hook up an amp but there are no RCA inputs on the factory cd player.
I just wanted to have that factory look stereo.
Hope this helps!!!

On ebay, here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...tem=592875231&
Retail price on this factory cd player was $1148.13 and dealer cost wass $687.50.
I know I could have bought a used one for about $150-$200 but decided to spend the extra to have a new one.
I called the one that you mentioned on the black wrecked z28. They still have not tested it to see if it still worked!!

The newer Delco CD decks are excellent...the older ones might not be quite as good, like you said, it will look proper in your car, and in my opinion, it will be leagues ahead of most aftermarket units.
And no, almost no factory car radio contians line inputs, or RCA outputs. But the technology and knowledge about getting amps to sound good with factory radios has become far better in recent years.
I have built entire systems around factory units, and trust me, it will sound just as good as anything aftermarket. It can sometimes take a little extra work and troubleshooting, but it's worth it. I'll be more than glad to help you get everything working right if you want to do it.
The only downside I can think of is that you may (or may not) have trouble when trying to play CD-Rs on that radio. And while almost no modern CD player skips any more, there were a few that did back in those days.
$125 is a fair price, but only if the unit works. If you buy it, ask the seller if you can get a refund (minus shipping costs) if it doesn't work. If he doesn't agree, negotiate a lower price, like $75, so you can afford to get it repaired if it doesn't work.
