A bunch of questions

i just installed my stereo an i have a few questions

1. i didnt solder the wires from the car harnes to the stereo harness, just twisted and taped them, is solder really nessesary, or is my half assed way ok?

2. every time i turn my car off, the settings dont stay, like clock bass level etc...

3. how far can i safly drill into the rear hump to secure my amp rack.

4.when i get a little more money, i was thinking about getting another profile cl640 and running them bridged one for front one for rear, would this be worth it, the speakers are rated at 60watts rms and bridged would be 225rms too much?

5. when i get subs, im getitng 3 12" 400w rms pioneers, would a 900x1 amp be enuf, or to little??

6. power caps, are they worth it, if my system is upwards of 1400+ watts, would i need 2 1 farad caps or will one be fine

thanks for any help anyone can give, i thought this would be better than making lots of posts

Answers corespond to question numbers:

1 - as long as the wires stay put, your fine. solder isn't necesarry, but I prefer a good crimp job over twist and tape. As long as it works .

2. you probably have the constant connection going to the acc wire. So when the car is off, the wire that is supposed to be a battery backup is not getting power.

3. 1/8", and that's pushing it. I wouldn't do it, mount a board up there, and use back straps to screw it down away from the gas tank.

4. I pressume this is a 4 channel amp ? I would spend my money elsewhere.

5. a true 900 watt mono amp should make any trio of subs plenty loud. Anything more than that is just for braggin rights and scaring old ladies.

6. Caps help dimming lights. Do not buy one unless you have a mild dimming light problem.
