Ok this is what I'm going to get, what do you think?

Rockford Fosgate 400.4 4 channel Amp = 218
Rockford Fosgate 1 Farad Compacitor = 95
Infinity Reference Component 6.5 = 112
Infinity Reference 6x9 2-Way = 69
Rockford Fosgate 4 Guage Amp Wire Kit = 29
Custom Kicks from Dj Sexay = 160
-------------------------------------------
Sub Total = 683

I need to figure out which Head Unit I want still, but ohter than that. I already have 2 12in subs ready and waiting for everything else...

I'm going to run the kicks and the subs off the amp, and the 6x9's off the Head unit.

That leave me a little over $300 to get a good Head unit (I'm thinking Alpine).

Who's got Alpine Head Units, which ones and how good?

thanks alot guys, and gals...

Kj

skip the cap , it is pretty much unnecesary. i persoanlly stay away from caps. they are like a big bandaid to me. if you need a cap, just get a better alt. use the money elsewere. i would recommend a bigger amp, or maybe even a second amp for your sub(s). your better off that way.

or you could use it toward a head unit. alpine is a good choice. maybe also look into nakamichi, clarion, and eclipse.

I just bought the new Alpine CDA-7875 for $400. It is the best head unit I've owned in terms of features, flexibility, and quality. Unfortunately, my system is not up to optimum capacity yet (waiting for kickpanels and in the middle of building sub box) so I can't accurately comment on sound quality except that it sounds much better than stock on factory replacement Alpine speakers, but any aftermarket head would. They have an enviable reputation for sound quality, though, so I'm expecting good things.

A cap should be more apropriately called a "dimming light fixer". Unless your lights are dimming with the stereo, you will not notice a difference with or with out the cap. If you have a voltage supply issue, the little bit of current a cap can give is not going to help.
