I am thinking of doing this but i would like to know, how exactly do you do it?? i read the article i the tech boards and ive searched for stuff on it but everyone just seems to give a lot of pics and nop info. Like do you need t take the fabric off the seat, if so how do oyu get it back on and when you cut the foam stuff inside the seat doesnt it make it hard or people to sit in the back, like isnt the foam all gone???

Whats up... I wrote the article...

Its much easier to do this with the fabric off the seat, you'll have to pull the metal C-clips out that hold it firmly in place, throw them away, they really aren't necessary. On the bottom, theres a zipper, unzip it obviously and work it off, just take your time.

The seat is only a bit firmer than it was before I started. I simply went to my local art supply store and picked up the most dense foam I could find that was about 2 inches thick. The stuff was made for restuffing seat cushions and was in the shape of a square. So I used two square pieces, lined it up on the wood and stapled the corners, then cut the hump out of it. There was more than enough so I trimmed it to size.

When it was time to put the fabric back on, I slipped it over just as it came off (never reusing the clips) and simply poked a hole into it and started cutting the square out of it. I cut a square that is actually smaller than the size of the cutout so I would have enough material left to fold down the sides next to the amps. Hope that helps.

So if you dont reuse those clips doesnt the faric like move arund, dont those clips hold it in?? also I am gonna get my seats reapolstured at some point, like wheni hae money or if i take ou a loan so should i just build the thing first and then have the peope who are gonna do my seats pt the fabric over it, but my main thing is you do have to cut out as much foam s you need to support the rack, right??
