Getting code for bad m/c solenoid

My check engine light came on, and when I decoded it, it said it was the m/c solenoid. I changed the solenoid and cleared the computer, and the light still comes on and shows the same code. I even took it to a chevrolet dealership and had them decode it on their computer and they said it was the m/c solenoid. The wiring looks fine from what I can tell, so what could be the problem?

You have to sort of "read between the lines" of that code. It doesn't necessarily mean the M/C solenoid is not working. If the carb is running massively rich or lean for some hard mechanical reason (clogged jet, clogged air bleed, etc, etc) the ECM will eventually throw a code saying the M/C solenoid is f'd up cause it can't adjust the solenoid's "duty cyle" (the difference between it's open and closed time) enough to bring the A/F mixture back into spec. Get it?

Soooooo.... something's PROBABLY mechanically wrong with your carb causing a big time rich or lean condition. Now WHAT is screwed up is up to you to find out. Good luck with it.
