regarding that detonating 350 from 305 swap, i won't be burning my own chip, i'll let someone else do it. can i give them the 305 chip (i know, stupid question). also, although not as good as a total custom chip, wouldn't calling a chip maker & getting a 350 chip be an easy quick fix as i'm planning a miniram 383 for late next yr? tia

Ummm First... Ed is a moron!

Second... and he'll agree, a chip does nada for a q-jet, carb, anything other than a TBI (maybe) or TPI! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A CHIP!!!! The stock Q-jet is abolutely fine for a 350 or 383... if you feel the need to keep it computer controlled.

1984 z28 w/ a 357 cu in. monster engine which is looking like the posterchild for Edelbrock with the exception of the Holley 750vac... all the suspension stuff... 9-bolt posi disk is in...

I agree with Bio. On the carb side of things the stock programming does just fine. It's not at all like a FI motor with fuel maps and such. Much much simpler. And the stock programming does fine.

If your engine/ECM was riginally an LG-4 (low output) then a custom chip might help out a little becuase of more aggressive spark advance tables.
