carb and dist help
carb and dist help
my lg4 berlinetta is slow, stalls, bogs, has choke issues etc. its done this since it was bought. i need to pass WI emissions in three weeks and think i should just put on a new intake, edelbrock 600, and non CC dist, and eliminate all the unnecesary crap. since i've bought the car, i put in a thermostat, fuel filter, cap, rotor, wires, plugs which made it run smoother, but it still bad on cold startup and i can't put my foot in it at all. it runs fine when driven normal and its warm. can i pass emissions with said mods???

depends on what they check. My car, with all smog removed, passed the "sniffer" in connecticut (HC,CO,NOx). In fact, it produced similar readings to my 1992 fuel injected jeep wrangler with smog 100% intact!
If they do a visual you might not pass
------------------
1984 Z28 (L69) monochrome tangerine orange with IROC decals and hood
1987 IROC wheels with Goodyear GSC's
305 from 87 IROC with 1994 LT1 cam (203/208 .450/.460")
performer intake
Qjet from 73 Olds
dynomax cat-back, gutted cat
no emissions controls --> passed emissions testing
non WC T-5 with 0.73 5th
3.27 nine-bolt

I purchased 83 Z28 (LG4) a year ago. The guy had all the computer stuff still hooked up but was running a non-CC Edelbrock. So my timing was crap and it ran terribly. Over the past year, I purchased non-CC MSD distributor, a new Holley 600, MSD ignition box, wieand stealth intake, and removed the computer completely. The car runs great now, but I'm having trouble passing emmissions. I have headman shorty headers and headman y-pipe connected to a 3 inch catco cat and a 3 inch hooker catback. So there really is no telling whether you will pass emissions or not. I've done some tuning and am going to give it another shot tomorrow. I'd say go with the mods and try to get it tuned. The car will run great.
