Edelbrock 1406

I brought a new Edelbrock 600 cfm to go on my stock 305. I have a Trans Am 85 with an automatic tranny. Now the carb works fine, it takes its gas correctly, idle at 550 at park and 500 when clutched... but the car is far from being prime and when I floor the gas pedal, it has no kick down! what's wrong?

Axle/Gears: 14/41 tooth

is the TV cable hooked up properly?
