TPI To Carb Swap
TPI To Carb Swap
Hey guys. I'm in the middle of swapping out my TPI to a carb setup and i'm having some problems setting up the linkages. The Holley bracket for the 700R4 (#20-95) keeps moving on me when I hit the accelerator. Do I have this bracket in the wrong place? There is a tab there, but it won't fit anywhere that will keep it from moving. I've looked at the swap guide in the technical articles section, but the pics aren't focused very well. Has anyone done this swap with complete success or have some pictures they could post? I'm new to the carb game. I've been EFI forever, but the TPI went out on me just one too many times. Any help would be appreciated.

I had similar problem
I'm running an older holley (oem carb from a 65)
the baseplate has no notches in it, so i had to modify the notch on the bracket, so it's "oblong" but down't stick down, so it rests against a contour in the base, So far it's worked well... no problems with the throttle blades not opening all the way

i used a mr. gasket bracket that had a bend in the end of the bracket so when you tightened down the back nut on the driver's side it would push the bend against the side of the carb's base. It was $15 through jeg's and had an adjustable kickdown cable mount. I am very pleased with it and it is impossible to move.
Does anyone have pics of their setup? I figured out the bracket situation after some fabrication. Has anyone successfully pulled gas through the TPI in-tank pump? I really don't want to have to drop that tank out of there, especially since my whole exhaust was welded about 2 months ago.
You need a fuel regulator. I cut my lines along the frame rail just before the OEM rubber line and fittings. I mounted my regulator on the inner fender well and ran braided line to the steel lines. (Aeroquip makes a fitting to tie into steel line) From there you have a nice straight shot up to the carb.
PS--Make sure you get the regulator that can run a return line to your gas tank.
