CC carb to non CC carb

CC carb to non CC carb

just bought an 82 t/a and it has that CC carb and i want to get rid of it-what all is involved in switching to non CC carb-do i just pull the comp and emission equip and add a Qjet-any short cuts and info would really help

You have to switch to a different carb and have to change the distributor as well, i believe thats all thats necassary to do the switch but don't hold me to it, i would get a few more responses. I have just learned this myself.

All you need is to change over the carburator, and get a vacuum advance type distributor. Then pull all the emmision crap of there. Should be fairly easy to do. Um Your taking out a quadrajet to put in a quadrajet???!!

That is right. Just replace the carb and distributor. I have heard of some guys just replacing the carb then changing the Module in the distributor. You can use whatever type of distributor you want, doesn't have to be vacuum. I run mechanical advance on mine.

I'm under going this same process. So you can use the stock distributor if you switch the module? Also I remember hearing something about having to use a manual converter lock-up. Is that true?

Yes. Or, at least a kit from TCI/Summit/Jegs to take over the process from the now-disabled computer.

For a daily driver, this process is a silly waste of money. For a performance build, it is also argueably silly. But, to each his own...
