TPS testing

My car is throwing a couple of codes that all point to my TPS. I just bought a digital volt ohm meter, but I have NO idea how to use it to test my tps. I was wondering if anyone could helpme, and please be very specific, all I know is "red wire" "black wire" and stuff like that. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

rich condition, vehicle speed, egr, and one other that I can't remember. I looked in my hayne's manual and it said that three of the for codes point to the tps. My idle fluctuates by a couple of hundred rpms, and when I sit at a light my ses light comes on, but when I take off it goes off.

TPS

Follow the reply I got from a similiar post 2 years ago. Ed did a good job of explaining it. It did turn out to be a bad TPS (replaced for $25).

I use 18 gauge wire inserted from the back of the plug until it makes contact with the pin. Piece-o-cake.
