Help the newbie....

I would love to know what you guys are talking about in here. Does anyone know where I can get some general reading material about carburetors.

quadjet
TPI
HEI
compression ratios

I don't have clue what any of this means.

Thanx

QuadraJet = Rochester Products (GM's fuel system division) trademark for a certain 4-barrel carb model

TPI = Tuned Port Injection, an early form of direct-port electronically-controlled fuel injection used on Corvettes and F-body cars in the 80s and early 90s, that used rvery long, small diameter runners that were "tuned" to a specific audio frequency ,like an organ pipe, that correspnds to a particular RPM range that they wanted to maximize at the expense of all other RPM ranges especially above the tuned one

HEI = High Energy Ignition, GM's tradename for electronic ignition, originally introduced in 1974

For the rest, visit your local public library or speed shop or book store, there's lots and lots of books out there on general engine theory and practice.
