Tuning the Holley
Haven't driven the car yet, but i'm getting her ready for hte maiden voyage.
The motor's got about 1.5-2 hours on it running varying rpms, so pretty muchy everything save the rings is seated/broke in.
So since really the only thing i can do to it is play with the idle and timing i have.
I've got it idleing pretty damn smoothly, and evenly, even have powerbrakes
It seems to like around 1100rpm, i think that should be sufficent when it drops in gear, maybe i'll have to run it up some
I'm running about 14* of inital timing, with 6 degrees of vac advance at idle.
I'm running 74/78 jets in it... which seems ok in this nice warm weather but without driving it it's a bit hard to tell
anyways i was bored and felt like fillin ya's in
here's some specs on the motor.
355 10.7:1 compression
Warmed over vortec heads
XE274 w/ 1.5 race gold rockers
Performer rpm intake w 1" spacer
780cfm 4150 vac sec holley

lil update...
rooting through the dashboard, the tach is now fully functional, the a/f Gauge is working, and the panel lighting is on.
1st off... i'ma gonna need bigger jets in there the 74's go lean as soon as the pv shuts.. waaaaay lean.
2nd.... Need more pumpshot, and prolly bigger squirters
3rd. Need more timing looks like the 14 initial ain't cutting it. may try and put lighter advance springs in, just to start off with.
So far that's bout the size of it.

NICE MOTOR!!!Damn near the same engine combo as mine...355,10:1,Comp Xtreme 274,1.5 Comp pro magnum roller rockers,Demon 750DP,Stealth Intake,AFR 195's.
My jetting is different due to the Demon...73/80 which is about dead on for me.
9.5" Power valve due to my 11.5-12 inches of vacuum at hot idle.
37 primary/31 secondary shooters.
..white pump cam primaries/black pump cam secondaries(havent fully tunes the secondaries yet so that may change)
22 degrees initial timing,10 degrees vacuum, and 14 degrees mechanical with one medium spring and one light for the curve which has my timing just about perfect for my engine.
Just a couple specs on my combo that may help you dial yours in a little closer. You will enjoy that motor..runs like mad when ya get on it.Always ear to ear when I mash it...that is when it hooks of course
