carbed lt4...decided AGAINST hotcam

ok guys its time for me to start round in up the...

the thing that i havent picked up is the cam...i was going to use an lt4 hotcam (i still may)..i ran about a dozen cams against the hot cam and i found it beat about 5 times

with my combo the hot cam made 435hp@6000 and 427lb. ft.
4500
the cam i was lookin at is comps XR258HR-10, not only cuz it makes the most power but intake duration was 258 degress..but then i tried to change the timing specs from seat-to-seat to .050 and the duration didnt change...is 258 its advertised or is that the duration@.050?
i looked through all the XE's but i didnt find one i liked...they all wanted to rev the **** out of it..the 258 makes it peak at 5500 so i shift at 6200 and ill be good

does ant company sell this cam in a kit?...like cam and lifters..
the springs are with the heads (if u guys need the spring stats for some reason then let me know)

i dont really want a big cam..this is still going to be my daily ride..
ii have a really good flowin set of heads so i dont need a massive cam to get the charge in and out..

im open to any input u guys have!!
thanks
Rob

Personally, I like my LT4 HOT cam....So far. I have carb issues to get over before I can say that I like it for sure, but so far it's nice. Slight lope at idle, turns good RPM's, and should be pretty efficient on fuel (after the engine's broke-in, and the carb is right)

I beleive that 258 is advertised. Anyways, I heard the hotcam is made more for a fuel injected car (something about the centerline) and there are better cams for a carbed application. Maybe someone can shed light on the situation. I have an XE262 non roller (218/224 @.050) in my car and it is a good torquey cam with a power peak around 53-5500 rpm.

The LT4 hot cam is a good cam. It has the popular position of being the largest cam factory FI can get away consistantly. Therefore it's good for 100% of the L98s out there.

Us Carbed guys have more options, we can use any cam we want. If you're looking for a cam in that size class anyway, it's a fine choice. Narrow down exactly what your criteria are, and then look for one that matches it.
