should my computer be removed with my carb?
i have a 600 cfm edelbrock performer and all that emissions stuff has been removed and i was wondering if i should have a computer? and how do i know if i have a non cc distributor and how do i know if i have a computer? the carb was on the car when i bought it so i dont know if its been removed. my distributor has a black cap and has a couple wires going to the side that if you unplug it wont start. thanks alot

I think that if you have the cc carb then you also would have a distributor contolled by the computer. I may be wrong on this though. In the case I am correct, if you remove one your gonna want to remove both. Everything works in unison when you have a computer controlled setup. You get rid of something, the computer has no input from that device, and then it doesnt know what to 'think'.
What year is the car? I think the computer controlled dist.'s have a four-wire plug going to the dist, this is the computer's input to the dist. The other two-wire plug, one goes to the ignition coil and the tachometer reads off the other wire.

i have an 85 trans am and i dont think the edelbrock is computer controlled. i only have a coil wire and tac wire from the distributor so does this mean its not a cc distributor? so i should be ok?

If you have a non-computer controlled distributor, most likely it will have a vacuum advance can on the side of the base (just below the cap).
