Carb Icing ??
I've been having a problem with my engine quitting suddenly a few minutes after starting on cold mornings. I know it isn't a problem with choke adjustment, I almost think it's an electrical problem cause it shuts down so suddenly, but it happens mainly when it's cold and damp. I have never seen any ice in there and any time it's happened the accelerator pumps still are working but the engine won't fire at all.
Any time this has happened its been on the way to work and I'm alone so I cant get someone else to help out with cranking it over while I look under the hood.
On several occasions the engine has died at exactly the same spot on the road.
I'm using a holley 600vs on a performer manifold with a 1" plastic spacer and an open element filter and an MSD 6AL with a GM HEI dist.
What could it be? Electrical maybe? Any opinions?
Thanks

Carb icing is easy to diagnose & usually happens when it's very cold outside. If you've been cruising for a while down the highway in cold air, then exit and come up to a stop sign and the car will not idle anymore & dies.... it has probably iced. If it sits for a few minutes (to get some heat soak) and then starts and idles fine, then carb icing is what you have.
If this isn't happening, then start looking for another problem.

That's kind of what is happening. The thing that has me puzzled is that the accelerator pump is squirting a perfect shot of fuel into the bore and that seems like it ought to at least get it to sputter, but it just shuts down dead then starts like nothing was ever wrong about 5 min later. It does it once in the morning and that's usually it, unless it's a really cold day.
Is there something that related to the MSD system that seems like it might be at fault?
Thanks
