new to carbs so someone told me to buy abook about them sounds like a good idea I thought.having a eldbrock i was told to buy a book on carter carbs seeing how there pretty much the same.In there they wrote use a vacuum gauge when tuning the carb well i went out and bought a gauge hooked it up at it was running 16.5-18 bounce back and forth <-- is this normal also

btw it's a 350 with a eldbrock 750,rpm intake,2.02/1.60 heads
mild cam can't remeber the duration and it was idealing at about 900 RPM

For a near-stock cam, yes. The bouncing is not normal; that usually indicates a cyl with a poorly sealing intake valve, or an ignition miss.

I wish I saw 18 inches of vacuum. I am lucky to see 10 at idle.

Damn CC Extreme (lack of) Energy cams!
