Tricks for determining air/fuel when at WOT???
What do you guys do to see if you are too rich or too lean when you're going down the track? There's no possible way to smell your exhaust, and the spark plug trick isn't all that reliable. All the guys running 10s and 11s don't have an air/fuel gauge either. So how do they know if they need to change jets or make adjustments? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Watch your MPH. Change jets. keep changing up or down as long as you're MPH improves. As long as there are no signs of overheating tip or detonation on the plugs. ( danger signs)
They may need to be bone white for best perf.
The ET is less of a reliable indicator of correct mixture
because too many things can make it vary.
Again tune for maximum MPH while watching your plugs for danger signs, not color.

No reliable tricks, use a gauge. those 10 second guys without one probably tuned it on a dyno with a wide band and gauge....either that or tuned it over a bunch of track runs going up or down a jet size between runs.

That's important to get a baseline tune, and use a weather station or altimeter to correct off that baseline the correct jetting for the currect track condition.
