Results with rebuilt Holley
Hello everyone,
Thought I would share some results I got recently on my car.
Last year I had an Edelbrock 600 performer series carb with stock lca and panhard bar, 15x7 5 spoke Z28 wheels with Hoosier 235/60 tires, and the best I ran was a 14.100 @ 104 with a 2.3xx 60' time.
Over the winter I added a Holley 750 dp, manual choke carb, spohn lca, lca relocation bracket, adj. panhard bar and 17x9 ROH Snypers with Firestone Firehawk 275/40 tires. My 60 foot times are now in the 2.0 - 2.1 range and I've got my quarter mile times today (5-8-03) down to 13.029 @ 109.75.
The Holley pulls much harder than the Edelbrock. The carb formula that Holley and Edelbrock give you does not seem to work. If you have good flowing intake, heads, headers, exh - I'd say you need a 650 dp minimum and probably a 750dp.
I hope to break into the 12's soon.
I posted here because I think the biggest help was the Holley 750dp.

A 5.75mph increase from swapping carbs is extreamly impressive. The full second drop in ET is pretty damn impressive too, especially for only improving .2 in the 60'. That speaks volumes. Those rims wiegh a ton too, they cost you a bit at the traps.

Nice. My Malfunctioning Qjet managed to throw down a 13.9@101, so I think it's pretty safe to say that this is another case of Edelbrocks just not running the #'s. Very impressive, by the way!
