Fuel pump question
Fuel pump question
I have an 87 383 TPI that I want to put a carb on. I am going to be getting the performer RPM manifold with the Holley street Avenger 770 carb. MY question is, if there a fuel pressure regulator I can buy that will make use of the elctric fuel pump I already have?? I have been told that I can still use that pump. All I have been able to find so far are regulators that just have in in line and dual out lines for a dual feed carb. Is there a regulator anyone knows of that has a return line so send the extra fuel back to the tank??? I have a feeling I will just flood the damn thing with no return..... or am I going to be stuck with having to drop the tank and get a mechanical pump???

If you use the factory pump then you have to have a return line.
You can do it that way but eventually you'll be sorry you did... it's just a matter of time.
I suggest installing a pump that will match the carburetor.

You can use Mallory #4309 with the stock TPI pump for the time being. And yes I would recoomend eventually to get a pump suited for a carb application.

That is the reg that I ran for years when I first swapped to carb and never had a problem but of course as time went by I was goin faster and the stock lines weren't enough......But for a quick fix to get you back on the road that is the way to go.
