stalling

i am having a stalling problem...... when i come to a quick stop or slow down fast the car tries to almost stall or idles real low--400rpm or so---- if i hit the gas pedal a little it lets recovers and all is well. I have an edelbrock 750, idle is set at 600 in drive. If I set it any higher like a lot have suggested in other posts, it wants to keep running on when i shut it down. I know it is running a little rich right now, but i plan on opening up the exhaust next week and i am waiting to tune till then.
Other than that it runs very good. After i change the 2" converter and intermediate pipe to 3" i am sure it will run alot better

What is your timing set at? If your timing is too retarded, you'll have to have the throttle plates open pretty far to get a 600 idle. Then if you open them up more to raise the idle you get dieseling. Having your throttle plates open too far is the #1 cause of dieseling. Try bumbing the timming up a little, and closing the plates a little. See if it still diesels and make sure you don't hear it pinging.

timing is set at 12 degrees if i bump it much more it pings , but i have been changing the springs on the centr. advance and it is getting better. I guess i could try and go up a little more and see what happens. I will try it this weekend when i get a chance to play with it

Sounds more like flooding from float being too high to me.
